Y13 Ellie Davidson, First impressions of 'Dr Faustus'

The front cover is like an optical illusion which makes me interested to read or know what it is about, i assume like the others it will be somewhat gothic, however, this isn't as apparenbt as the others immediatly were! It seems short and i think it is a play which makes it more interetsing to read!

Y13 Ellie Davidson, The Bloody Chamber

I know from what we have been told in class, that this book will be somewhat gothic, and from the title 'bloody' symboling and perhaps foreshadowing danger and death this also hints at what the book perhaps has in store. The front cover is black, which is dark and bold, the picture on the front is red which again represents blood and fear, these two colours together are contrasting and eye catching drawing our attention to the bold font 'THE BLOODY CHAMBER' the capital bold font also hints that the book isn't going to be about love or romantic in any way. The 'chamber' makes me think of being trapped in some kind of dungeon and so my first impressions of the book are that it is gothic or horrific. It is quite long and the text is VERY small.

Y13 Ellie Davidson, My first impressions of Frankenstein!

Although I have watched the film Frankenstein, I am struggling to know what to expect! I imagine it is just longer and a more detailed version of the film. I know it is somewhat gothic and so I suspect it is going to be quite weird in parts and nightmareish, however it isn't realistic and so it takes away any chance of it being horific! It isn't too long but the writing is quite small making it less entising to read, hopefully unlike other books I will enjoy this one!
